Franquin, biography
Franquin was born in Brussels at 3 Januari 1924. He went to grammar-school and then to St.Lucas At that time he already made paintings for Plein-Jeu . After one and a half year at St. Luc he is recomended by Eddy Paape at a drawingoffice. His colleague´s are Peyo and Morris. Morris did some drawing for Dupuis at that time and Franquin decided to aply for a job too. He gets a job and makes some short stories for the Robbedoes Almanak 1946 . Later he takes over Robbedoes & Kwabbernoot from Jijé. In 1955 he had a conflict with Dupuis and started a series of short jokes: Ton en Tinneke for Le Lombard. At 20 Februari 1957 Gaston en- tered the magazine Robbedoes. He later stopped with Ton en Tinnike and Rob- bedoes en Kwabbernoot . He died in 1997.
