Hi

I was wondering if running around with the flag, on the XOL CTF server, but without dodging and (much) shooting, is considered 'legal'.

Basically playing a hide-and-seek type CTF game with reduced violence in an ecstatic chill-mode fashion, which I enjoy greatly

I guess the emphasis here would be on 'fun and playing' rather than 'win and serious'.

So, if you have the chance, I'd like to hear from you what your observations are.

I also want to say thank you to everyone who visits the XOL CTF server to create and maintain a nice atmosphere

World ease,

Teasy

Enemy base? There's an enemy base?

Legal, but bloody annoying for both teams, unless you actually manage to cap - unlike ZARDOZ.

Everybody wants to rule the World win the Match. Without Frags impossible i think. So its more 'win and serious' with one exception: Habouji  Grin
Its funny to play with or against him. Many Times we can start some Hammerfights which i lose of course...

IMHO the emphasis is on fun and playing.

That being said hide & seek type of gameplay can be start of the strategy but must not be the end of the game. Often hiding is the best way to prevent the enemy from retrieving their flag, however the own flag is at the homebase the player should try to return to his base,

Ahhh didn't see Teasy in UT for too long.  =/

I have seen you do this on FFA, and you are very good at staying alive, even without using any weapons.

For me that is a fine style of play.  But if you are failing at it, and losing the flag, then I think it's unfair on your team, and it's better that you start shooting!

One minor issue, is that AutoTeamBalance might get confused about your skill, if you are not always playing "at your best".  Haboujji has this problem already.  Sometimes he is playing too gently, then next map he is teamed with the strongest player!

Hi all, I agree with what others are stating, and as Noggie says, its a good way of not only staying alive, it also prevents the other team from capping. I use this "tactic" as well, when possible, but not to the extend Teasy and ZARDOZ are doing it. Most more skilled XOLLERS dont run straight to own base anyway, knowing the opponents are just waiting there anyway. (Very MAP depending, route options, etc.)
Perhaps some kind of "special" MOD or gamestyle event/day could be fun ?
Where focus of the game could be even more team oriented (Dunno if such exists)
Teasy: What would you have in mind for such an idea ?

NogginBasher: I play monsterhunt sometimes

Boom!: Imagine the starting point being a game where people are not forced to do anything.
A completely free game where everyone can move freely, and really play a game as in the true meaning of these 2 words.
This can radically shift the mentality and objective of the game

For example, I have played many games where everyone stopped acting out a serious role, and engaged in one (or more) of the following activities:
- Hide and seek: One person hides (preferably with flag) and everyone else looks around to find her/him.
- Capture record: Everyone joins 1 team to try and beat the fastest record by boosting in multiple tactical places.
- Bunny dance: Everyone jumps around like bunnies in a dancing fashion
- Trick jumps: Try to make an impossible move, path or jump possible.
- Sightseeing: Particularly enjoyable with many (custom) maps, checking out every inch of the environment.
- Bunny race: Everyone goes from start to finish (and back) using only jump.
- Violentless CTF: Grab the flag, run around. When you feel like it, drop the flag so someone else can pick it up or return. All players try to keep the score even; for example make a 1-0 into 1-1. Overtime is desired
- Bunny track: Pretend the CTF map is actually a BT map.
- Follow the white rabbit: Everyone follows the bunny into the rabbit hole - wherever it may lead
- Game of tag: One player is 'it' and uses 1 point-blank range enforcer shot/hit to give this 'tag' over to someone else. But if you manage to kill someone, you must feign death until someone tramples over your head
- The attraction: When you see someone who gives you a funny vibe, keep following her/him in your own way.

There are a few more games I used to play in CTF
